Many thanks to Anne & Dean Mims and "Because We Should" for the Dog-On-IT fund-raiser on September 8th at the Ward 3 Dog Park! Anne is active military (Navy) and planned the event from her duty station in Europe! She scheduled everything to occur while she and Dean were home on leave. LAPAW fosters have been treated to food, treats, new bowls, leashes, collars, and $$. We so much appreciate the big hearts that planned and participated! We still have photos to post both here and on our fb page. We so much appreciate their kindnesses!

Pet of the Month
We are always in need of foster homes! The more foster homes we have the more animals we can save. We provide all medical care and food if needed. If you would care to make a difference in the lives of homeless pets, fostering is a wonderful way to do it! To foster (dogs or cats), please call our remote line and leave a message.

To the Pelican Coast Parrotheads for their generous donation!
This sweet boy was found wandering the streets alone. Days of effort to locate his person(s) were not successful. So, we are happy he is with us! He is about 3 years old and is a lover-boy. But he will need a securely fenced yard to play in--he tends to be a "runner" when given the opportunity of an open gate.
In spite of his name, Houston is a Louisiana boy to the core! He is very friendly with other dogs as well as people. He loves toys...especially, a ball and a game of catch with his human friends. Houston does not even mind if the ball is taken from his mouth. He just wants to chase it! He weighs about 60 pounds, but still has a lot of puppy in him. Houston is eager to please and very smart. He would be a quick study for some obedience training! He was found with a friend but they were never claimed, so he was in line for death row. What a waste that would have been! Houston will need a large fenced yard to enjoy his play time with his new family and doggie friends. He is good with children and has a gentile nature, so he should be good with those over 5 yrs. no cats though. Houston is perfect if you have the time and room for an energetic, loving, friendly dog. He is hoping to spend the rest of his life with a great family and spend a lot of time chasing a ball with his new best friends.
