J.D., formerly Bart Maverick, who came to LAPAW as a stray, is at home in the country with his new family and he could not be happier.

Remember Trixie?  Last July she was LAPAW's first "death-row-save" dog to be adopted. Her name is now Sandy. Just look at her now--here she is with her mom, healthy and happy and as beautiful as ever!

Remember Coco?  Here she is, all grown up with her family. She had a bath at PetsMart and stopped by to visit. Her family told us that she is a wonderful dog and has been a delightful addition to their family.

He is jumping for joy, especially since his new guardian is the sister of John, one of the wonderful adoption counselors at CP Animal Control. John is the person who picked Ridley to go into foster care (and did not recognize him after a bath and a little trim!).  What a happy tail!

Maddox
Here is a note from Maddox's new mom.  Remember Maddox?  He's the guy in the request for fosters on this website. He is the subject of a really Happy Tail!!

Hi Sheila!

It was lots of fun meeting Maddox as he got off the trailer with Kyle.  He hopped off, came right to us, and if he could talk, I think he would've said, "Oh, here you guys are, what took you so long?"  He was so happy, and just greeted our kids with lots of kisses.  He gets along very well with our golden (they did have one spat over a chewie that my golden is not ready to share; however, Maddox is so easy going, he just walks away and mind his own business). Maddox has seen our cat, but will sit and back off when told to do so; I think he's just curious.  I haven't even heard him bark yet. We are so far VERY PLEASED with his smiling personality. He walks well on the leash, fetches the ball well, but he is not hyper!  He is house trained.  How much easier can it get?  It's as if he's always lived here.  Within an hour @ home,  my 6 yr-old daughter was telling him to sit and he was quite obedient.  He is a little skiddish about passing cars so he must've had a problem with that in the past.  So far, he is the perfect dog (my mother-in-law thinks he's terrific). We're going to the vet on Wed.  Until then, Maddox will be following us around the house with a ball in his mouth, wagging and wagging and wagging his tail!!!  I'll be in touch.  Thanks Sheila!  Kim

Parker
Parker, formerly Puddy, found no room at the inn (CPAC) when he was
abandoned by his owners. Because kennel space was full, he future was
grim--gas chamber, to be exact. BUT, as if by magic, he became a LAPAW
rescue, was temporarily fostered and then kenneled until he caught the
transport to the Northeast and to the Good Life!  This is Parker and his
best girl, Molly. What a perfect pair!

Puppy Love!
James just found a new puppy to love at PetsMart on Saturday!

Ella
Michelle, forever guardian of Ella, dropped by PetsMart to say hello. Ella was adopted several weeks ago and is very happy in her new home. She particularly enjoyed being welcomed home by two cute little Yorkies.

Snowball
Snowball, Toy Poodle, was the most popular fellow at adoptions last Saturday. Here he is with new forever guardian, Nishee', who fell in love with him before seeing him. Snowball is currently being treated for heartworms and was glad to go home to the peace and quiet of Nishee's home.

Jolie
What a smart girl!  Jolie wore her "Rescue Me" bandana to PetsMart. It worked!!  She went home with forever guardian, Randi.

India: Rescued From Death
Meet India (left), Luci, and Lady after India's adoption at PetsMart.  India has an extraordinary story. She is an extraordinary dog. She was picked up by a Calcasieu Parish Animal Control (CPAC) officer and placed in the adoption program at the facility. She sat in her kennel for 5 weeks and was not adopted.  Due to the kindness of CPAC adoption counselors, who saw something special in her, she was allowed to remain in the adoption program for another 6 weeks but still was not adopted. After being spotted the day before she was to be die in  the gas chamber, a LAPAW volunteer spotted her and saw the same potential in her as the counselors had seen. CPAC released her to LAPAW and she was placed in foster care. Luci, who had adopted Lady (Corgi mix) from CPAC in December, was looking for a second dog and emailed LAPAW around the same time India was going into foster care. She knew as soon as she saw her photo that Indy was the dog she was looking for. Before going to live with Luci, India went to visit her life-saving friends (Michelle, the officer; and Anne, Michelle, and Lori, adoption counselors) at CPAC to tell them thanks for their kindness. Luci and the girls plan to live happily ever after.

Meet Humphrey
Humprey with his forever guardian, Brandon.  Humphrey, a terrier mix, was found in the strays section of CPAC, then released to LAPAW. It was love at first sight for Humphrey and Brandon!

Irene and Kim
Here is Sweet Irene with Kim, her new guardian. Irene, a Rat Terrier mix, had run out of time in the adoption program at CPAC and was to be euthanized. Thanks to the kindness of Adoption Counselor Anne, she was released to LAPAW on Tuesday and was adopted at PetsMart the following Saturday. Sweet Irene is now known as Josie.

Gus
This is Susan with Gus, also rescued from the strays section at CPAC. Susan, who adopted Gus for her elderly mother, reports that Gus and her mother fell in love instantly upon meeting.
